Environmental Services

At HSP, we believe that every project is an opportunity to protect the environment and support the communities around us. We approach our work with the understanding that strong environmental practices help create projects that are safer, more resilient, and ultimately more successful.

We take the time to understand each site and each challenge so we can offer solutions that are practical, responsible, and sustainable. Whether we’re assessing land, monitoring air and water, or helping a project meet environmental requirements, our focus is always on doing what’s right—for our clients, for the environment, and for the future.

Collaboration is important to us. We work closely with our clients, communicate clearly, and make sure every step of the process feels manageable and well supported. Our goal is simple: to guide each project with care, deliver quality work, and make environmental protection a natural part of every project’s success.

Our Environmental services include:

  • Environmental Site Assessment (Phase I and II).

  • Record of Site Condition.

  • Environmental Compliance Approvals (Air, Waste, Noise, Sewage Works)

  • National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRIs)

  • Designated Substance Surveys (DSS)

  • Groundwater and Surface Water Sampling.

  • Air Quality Assessment

  • Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling (AERMOD)

  • Noise Assessment.

  • Soil Sampling and Analysis (O. Reg. 153/04 & Excess Soil Regulation O. Reg. 406/19)

Groundwater and Surface Water Sampling

We know how important water is to every project, whether it’s protecting a natural area, evaluating a property, or meeting regulatory requirements. That’s why we approach groundwater and surface water sampling with care and attention to detail.

Our team follows MECP protocols and good field practices, but just as importantly, we make sure clients understand what the results mean and why they matter. We choose the right sampling methods for each site, take the time to collect clean and representative samples, and walk clients through the results in a clear and practical way. Our goal is to give you reliable information that helps you make confident decisions about your project and its environmental responsibilities.

Noise Assessments

Noise can affect people more than many expect—both in the workplace and in the community. We support our clients by carrying out Noise Assessments that look not only at compliance, but also at comfort, safety, and long-term project success.

We spend time onsite understanding how the facility operates, how employees work, and how nearby areas may be impacted. Then we analyze the results and explain them in a straightforward way, offering recommendations that are realistic for your operations. Whether we are helping reduce noise exposure for workers or supporting a project through the regulatory process, our focus is always on practical solutions that protect people and maintain smooth operations.

Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and Phase II)

When clients come to us for a Phase I or Phase II ESA, they’re often making important decisions about a property—buying, selling, redeveloping, or meeting regulatory requirements. We understand the pressure and responsibility involved, so we approach every assessment with thoroughness and empathy.

During Phase I, we carefully review the history of the site, visit the property, and speak with people who know it best. If a Phase II is needed, we carry out soil and water sampling in a way that minimizes disruption while giving you clear answers. Throughout the process, we explain what we’re doing and why, so there are no surprises. If the project requires a Record of Site Condition, we stay with you through every step. Our goal is to make the process smooth, transparent, and supportive from start to finish.
