HSP is seeking a self-motivated solutions-oriented individual to fill a position of junior/intermediate mechanical engineer.
HSP is a medium sized consulting engineering firm located in Eastern Ontario, near Cornwall. The company provides a full range of engineering and design services to a wide variety of clients, primarily in the industrial and manufacturing sectors in Ontario, Quebec and New York State.
Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, you will be responsible for diagnosing problems and developing, recommending and implementing solutions in a wide variety of client situations, with the highest standards of technical accuracy and within established guidelines.
The ideal candidate will:
• possess a university degree in mechanical
engineering or equivalent;
• possess 2 to 8 years experience working
in a mechanical engineering capacity, either directly in an industrial
or manufacturing plant or in providing consulting services to that sector.
• possess strong analytical, communication
(oral and written) and interpersonal skills;
• possess a working knowledge of current
computer programs including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and other discipline
specific engineering software;
• be able to work in harmony with other engineers
and support staff, in a team atmosphere, on multi-disciplined projects.
• be eligible for professional designation
in the province of Ontario and/or Quebec;
• be able to communicate in French as well
as in English.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, you will be responsible for preparing complete working drawings, preparing layouts of complete equipment installations and new designs which may be of intricate or complex nature, performing necessary calculations and making material lists.
The ideal candidate will:
• be a graduate from a recognized technological
institution;
• possess 5 to 12 years experience working
in mechanical design capacity, either directly in an industrial or manufacturing
plant or in providing consulting services to that sector.
• possess a sound knowledge of materials,
structures, equipment and technical practices.
• possess strong analytical, communication
(oral and written) and interpersonal skills;
• possess a working knowledge of current
computer programs including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and other discipline
specific engineering software;
• be able to work in harmony with engineers
and other support staff, in a team atmosphere, on multi-disciplined projects.
